A Tale of an Emotion Kid - Part 2

After graduating from high school, Z spent his time serving in a Christian ministry for about two months. It was supposed to be three months thing but Z took a break in between. At first, his initial thought was to serve for about a month because Z never planned to serve at all. During the decision-making process, Z kinda bargains with God...? In his mind, Z was like "God, I will only serve for one month and that's it. Nothing more nothing less." That's what Z initially thought la. Serving in the ministry was not an easy task and sometimes it can be quite mentally challenging especially when it comes to certain areas of work. The 18-year-old Z doesn't want to go thru the struggles and just wanted to stay in his comfort zone like a baby. That's the main reason why Z didn't plan to join in the first place.

    However, God has a different plan for Z. When the serving period begins, Z joined with an unwilling heart and the thoughts of hoping this "one month" of serving will end faster. Others join the ministry as well. Throughout the entire month, Z and his friends organize events, have bible study together, helping out the school's Christian Fellowship (CF), etc. There are many times where Z gets angry easily over small matters or argues with others etc. Z's friends know that Z was being kinda a rebel. Fortunately, they are forgiving and care for Z even though Z acted poorly.

    After one month of serving, Z took a month's break from serving. It wasn't a full month's break. Z was still helping out to organize an event at the mid of February 2013 and was busy getting his driving license. During that period, Z took some time to reflect on what was going thru his mind and also things that have taken place in January. Before taking his break, a friend of his told him that "If you don't try to overcome it right now because you are scared, you won't overcome it later either. Many people said you will overcome it as you grow older but apparently, that is not true. Many people still can't overcome their obstacles as they grow old because they still have the same mindset as they initially have. Is either you overcome it now or never." That hit Z real hard, to be honest. Back then, Z always thought that if I can't overcome it right now, I can deal with it later when I grow older. After thinking about it, Z realized what he said is true and later on he decided to continue serving in the ministry in March.

     During his serving period in March, his friends mentioned "back then in January he was a rebel, and now he is a changed person". Who would have thought that a change of heart and mindset would lead to a willing heart to serve? God uses him to speak to Z. At the same time, He was working in Z throughout the entire journey. He didn't give up on him even though I was rebelling. In the end, He leads Z back to Him like a father leading his son to the right path.

    Though two months of serving has ended, Z continues to serve in the ministry as a volunteer helping out the school's CF, organize an event. Moreover, he has had his monthly bible study group with some friends from Singapore for about two years (during his foundation and 1st year in degree period). We will leave that story next time.
